Country Fried Steak with Sawmill Gravy

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Cube Steaks
  • 1 T House Seasoning
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 c Flour for Breading
  • For the Gravy
  • 2 T Butter
  • 2 T Flour
  • ½ t Pepper
  • ¼ t Salt
  • 1 C Milk
  • Oil for pan frying

Instructions
 

  • Set up a breading station by placing the egg in one bowl and flour in other
  • Sprinkle some of the house seasoning on the cubed steak
  • Add the remaining house seasoning to the flour to stir to combine
  • Place cube steak into the flour then the egg then into the flour again
  • Once the oil has come up to temperature pan fry the cube steak browning it on both sides
  • Remove the browned cube steak from the pan and place on a paper towel lined plate
  • Allow the oil to cool slightly before pouring that oil out of the pan leaving any browned bit in the pan
  • Add 2 T butter to the pan and place back on the stovetop over medium heat
  • Once the butter has melted add the salt and pepper and whisk in the flour
  • Once the flour and butter have thickened slightly add the milk and whisk
  • Whisk constantly until the gravy has thickened
  • If the gravy has thickened too much simply add a little milk until it is the consistency you desire
  • Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans
  • Enjoy!
