Hi friend!
There are so many recipes that call for Cream of Chicken Soup and I am not a fan. I try to avoid using it if possible, and with this recipe replacing it is so easy. All you need is butter, flour, broth or Better than Bouillon and Water. I use this copycat cream of for gravies too!
Here is the recipe:
Copycat Cream of Chicken Soup with Better than Bouillon Chicken Base
Ingredients
- 4 T Butter
- 4 T Flour
- 1/8 t Pepper
- 2 T Better than Bouillon Chicken Base
- 2 Cups of Water
Instructions
- In a pan with high sides, over medium heat melt the butter and add the Better than Bouillon Chicken Base
- Add the flour and pepper and combine with a whisk
- Once you have incorporated your flour and butter together, add one cup of water and continue whisking
- Once the mixture has thickened add the remaining water and whisk while continuing to cook over medium heat until the gravy is thickened.
- If the mixture is too thick simply add 2 T of water and whisk until thinned.
- Remove from the heat and enjoy!
This recipe works well anytime a recipe calls for Cream of Chicken Soup. Keep in mind, this does make between 14-16 ounces of gravy and a can of cream of soup is 10 ounces so it may be a little more liquid in your recipes.
Let me know if you have any questions. I’m here to help!
Have a great day!
